Costa Brava - Llançà up to Port de la Selva

Llançà and Port de la Selva are romantic fishing villages located on the peninsula of Cabo Creus, only 15km to 20km from the French border. In the north of the Costa Brava, the resorts have the classic structure of coastal locations. The center itself is a bit away from the sea (in the Middle Ages you protected yourself from the pirate attacks) and the fishing district is right on the beach. These fishermen's quarters were gradually developed in harmonious fashion around the numerous bays with their transparent water in small settlements. Llançà and Port de la Selva have partly retained their original economic structure, agriculture and fishing. Guests have the opportunity to attend daily fish auctions and taste the variety of fish and seafood. The resorts offer themselves to many excursions in the charming surroundings. These can be combined with a visit to the numerous Romanesque monuments and muses (including the Dali Museum in Figueras). Particularly noteworthy is the village square of Llançà, with its church and the peninsula of Castellar in the port area. Here you have a magnificent view to the French coast in the northeast and the Cabo Creus in the southeast. The town of Llançà has a train station, a sports harbor with 500 berths. An important business and cultural center is the town of Figueras, 20 km away. Here is one of the most beautiful casinos in Europe, in a medieval castle. A golf course with 18 holes can be found in about 14km distance in Peralada.
