The small Venice of Spain, holidays in Empuriabrava (Ampuriabrava)

Empuriabrava (Ampuriabrava), the small Venice of Spain located on the Gulf of Roses, originated about 40 years ago from a wetland and has become one of the most beautiful water sports centers in Europe. Following the example of Florida, a holiday paradise was created here in Spain on the Mediterranean. Many villas and cottages have their own garden, garage and access to the canals with a private jetty so the boats can dock right on the doorstep. Empuriabrava has the largest marina in Europe with over 30 kilometers of navigable canals and more than 5,000 berths. The marina is designed so that a lot of land can be reached both by car and by water through a sophisticated system of roads. The gently sloping, sandy beach Platja d'Empuriabrava is about 1.6 km long and one of the widest on the Costa Brava. In the center of Empuriabrava you will find arcaded boulevards filled with shops, music bars, bars with outdoor terraces and discos. Popular nearby attractions include Figueras, the birthplace of Salvador Dali, the Dali Museum and the picturesque fishing village of Cadaques with its winding, white streets. Around the resort of Empuriabrava is an approximately 5,000ha large nature reserve.
