Holidays at La Manga del Mar Menor

La Manga del Mar Menor is the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe and is located between the towns of Cabo des Palo and San Pedro del Pinatar. An approximately 22 km long tongue of land separates the lagoon from the Mediterranean Sea. The Mar Menor, which means small sea in English, is one of the most popular holiday regions on the Costa Cálida. The Mar Menors is not only particularly calm and shallow, but the water is also really nice and warm because the water temperature is generally 5 °C above that of the Mediterranean Sea. The mud on the beaches of the Mar Menor is said to have a healing effect and if you want to do something good for your body, rub yourself with the mud on the beaches of the Mar Menor. The Haff La Manga (Spanish: The sleeve) separates the 135 square kilometer, maximum seven meter deep lagoon Mar Menor from the Mediterranean Sea. In the Mar Menor there are five small islands of volcanic origin. Canoeists, surfers, sailors and many other water sports enthusiasts cavort on the lagoon. The constant winds make the summer heat bearable and you will find a good tourist infrastructure with restaurants, bars and many entertainment and leisure facilities.
