Peratallada rises above a rock and offers a breathtaking architectural ensemble dominated by an elegant castle and surrounded by walls and a moat. The town has managed to keep the medieval atmosphere of its origins. Stroll through the alleys of the town of Peratallada to admire the medieval structure that has survived for hundreds of years. The castle is documented as early as 1065 AD and was restored to a luxury hotel in the 1960s. Traces of settlement from the Bronze Age were found during the restoration. Today Peratallada is known for its old stone houses and furrowed stone streets and passageways. Its proximity to the beaches of the Costa Brava and the numerous restaurants as well as small boutique hotels and artist galleries make Peratallada a popular travel destination.
